The M79 is a grenade launcher featured in Battlefield Hardline. The launcher is a gadget issued to the Criminal Mechanic to deal with hostile light vehicles. The Law Enforcement equivalent is the M320.
Similar to the Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam expansion counterpart, the M79 and M320 have effectively replaced shouldered-fired rockets as a primary source of anti-vehicle and personnel weapontry.
The M79 typically takes two to three direct hits in order to destroy most vehicles. Since Battlefield Hardline features a less amount of destructible structures and objects, the M320 is less effective at destruction as a result. It also requires a direct hit on personnel in order to effectively neutralize them.

Перечислять все типы гранат, созданных для нашего и импортного образцов, смысла нет. Скажу сразу: у американцев ассортимент в разы шире. Заокеанский боеприпас на базе гильзы 40×46 мм универсален: подходит и к автоматическим, и к подствольным, и к револьверным гранатомётам, и к однозаряднымпереломкам». Это стандартный боеприпас НАТО, его выпускают многие страны-участницы этого военного блока(и не только они). С точки зрения логистики это весьма удобно.

Отечественная же граната ведёт своё происхождение от активно-реактивного снаряда к экспериментальной авиапушке ТКБ-700 калибра 45 мм. Её хотели поставить на штурмовик Су-25Т, но в серийное производство она так и не попала(как, впрочем, и сам самолёт).
Однако линию для производства снарядов уже наладили.
На базе пластиковой гильзы соорудили совершенно нетипичный для советского/российского военпрома боеприпас ВГМ-93, подходящий к одному-единственному виду оружия.

На данный момент ассортимент выстрелов к ГМ-94 невелик: термобарический, учебный, раздражающего действия, дымовой, светошумовой и ударно-шокового(нелетального) действия. Так что по этому параметру отечественная модель в явном проигрыше.
Правда, термобарический боеприпас получился очень неплохим — и летит он, по некоторым данным, аж на полкилометра. У американцев прицельная дальность была заявлена в 300 метров. Но…

Об устройстве
Гранатомет М79 является однозарядным оружием, содержащим нарезной ствол. Это модель с открытыми прицельными приспособлениями, которые представлены мушкой и целиком. Последний при необходимости можно складывать. Целик маркирован на определенную дистанцию, которая варьируется в пределах 75-375 м. Длина шага составляет 25 м. Гранатомет сделан с деревянными прикладом и цевьем. Стремясь максимально уменьшить отдачу во время стрельбы, американские конструкторы приклад гранатомета оснастили резиновым затыльником-амортизатором. Ложа оборудована антабками, к которым крепится ружейный ремень. Чтобы перезарядить оружие, его ствол достаточно откинуть вниз и извлечь уже использованную гильзу. Далее вместо отстрелянной вставляется новая граната. После этого запирается ствол.

Even though there were experimental, shotgun like, ammunition for this weapons in real life, the chamber of the M79 cannot hold enough pressure to push small projectiles up to a lethal velocity. The barrel is rifled, therefore the small projectiles spread widely and is less lethal than a handgun or conventional shotgun at further range.

В Сирии применяются САА с 2013 года.

Description
The S.M.79 Sparviero serie 1 (1936) is a rank II Italian bomber
with a battle rating of 2.0 (AB/SB) and 1.7 (RB). It was introduced in Update 1.69 “Regia Aeronautica”, though a variant existed in the Germany aircraft tech tree prior to the update.
Due to its relatively low Battle Rating, the three-engined SM.79 serie 1 enjoys a relatively high speed for a bomber against most of the lower tiered opposition it faces. This aids its survivability, particularly in a shallow dive. Unfortunately, it is rather lacking in bombload options compared to the He 111s and Ju 88s and also has rather poor defensive fire arcs.
Unlike the German bombers, however, it is armed with 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns which can pack quite a punch against the flimsier aircraft it faces. The pilot also controls a fixed forward-firing 12.7 mm Breda, which is otherwise uncovered by any defensive armament. This gun can be useful for strafing light vehicles and trucks that will be encountered frequently in low tier battles and can be used to shoot down other aircraft. It is somewhat more manoeuvrable than the He 111 H-3, but the Sparviero is by no means a fighter and will rapidly lose energy in turns. With the ability to carry 500 kg bombs, the SM.79 can use these to more easily take out pillboxes and heavier tanks, although this reduces the total bombload to only 1000 kg as opposed to 1250 kg with 250 kg bombs.

- This is the only weapon that fires explosive rounds that can be obtained on the Normal Map.
- This is the first and only gun to use 40mm ammunition.
- M79 can be very rarely found as a world loot. It can be more easily found in Red Emblem Case in Crimson Ring Club because M79 rarely replaces Groza-S. It can also be found in an Air Drop.
- This is the fifth weapon used in the Vietnam War (first is AK-47, second is Mosin-Nagant, third is M1A1, and fourth is SVD-63).
- Interestingly, the M79’s throwable ID, name and explosion ID are “40mm_granade”, “40mm grenade” and “explosion_40mm_granade” respectively. This is likely just a typo.
- The way the projectile interacts with obstacles varies. It can act like a throwable grenade and go over obstacles and doesn’t explode against them. However, if a player stands in front of you, the grenade auto explodes on impact.
- This is the first actual grenade launcher in the game; the Potato Cannon and the Heart Cannon based on the RPG-7 instead.
- This is the fourth weapon that has an ammunition capacity of 1 round permanently, with the Flare Gun being the first, the Bugle being the second, and the Rainbow Blaster being the third (although the AWM-S had a single round magazine briefly; this was reverted before the weapon’s release).
- Unlike the USAS-12, it only explodes upon impact or reaches maximum range and does not bounce off reflective obstacles and walls.
- This is the 4th gun, along with the Potato Cannon, Spud Gun, and Heart Cannon, that has a visible projectile, rather than the translucent bullet trails commonly found in the game.
- Soldiers nicknamed this weapon the “Blooper” or the “Thumper” due to its firing sound.
- In real life, the grenade’s velocity is much faster than in-game, and the front sight makes this weapon incredibly accurate and deadly. It is also very light and is held like a shotgun and not shoulder-wielded like in-game. This is likely caused by developers copying potato cannon’s code.
- When fired, the 40mm grenade from the M79 spins. This is viewed by some as ridiculous, as the 40mm grenade is a giant bullet and flies straight like one. This error was probably caused by developers reusing the common throwable’s mechanics on the M79.
- Its real-life counterpart fires the 40×46mm grenade and can only fire six grenades in a minute due to recoil.
- In comparison, the surviv.io M79 can shoot about 26 grenades a minute and begin reloading immediately after being fired. This is unreasonable since a grenade launcher has far more recoil than any conventional rifle.
- The surviv.io M79 also appears to eject a cartridge when it is fired, which makes no sense since the M79 is a single-shot break-open weapon that does not automatically eject its cartridges as a modern self-loading weapon would.
- In reality, the stock of an M79 is massive. This is to minimize the recoil after the M79 fires.
- In Potato Mode, this is one of three guns that can’t be swapped. Instead, killing a player or breaking a potato would swap your throwables.
- It is possible to get a M79 in a normal shack, but the chances of getting it is 1/100 since shacks appear commonly with more common loot.
- A M79 can be found in the mansion where the DEagle 50s were suppose to be , but only sometimes, as for it is very rare for that to happen, just like the DEagle 50s.
Usage in battles
With a significantly higher Battle Rating than the previous two Sparviero models, the 1941 Sparviero features the same bomb load-outs (but can also carry a single torpedo) and armament, with only relatively minor increases in performance. While unable to compete with the Ju 88 or the He 111 H-6 and Fw 200 C-1 Condor in terms of performance or sheer bomb-carrying capacity, respectively, the SM.79 (1941) can still perform decently if played carefully.
It is very important to avoid fighters in the SM.79, as it has a lot of defensive fire dead-zones and is not as durable as the Ju 88. If an enemy fighter is foolish enough to stay within the reach of the 12.7 mm Breda-SAFATs, they can deal a considerable amount of damage to the pursuer. However, the gunners themselves have no armour protection and can be knocked out fairly easily.
Due to the relatively light payload carried by the SM.79, it is not particularly recommended to go base bombing, even with the max load of 5 x 250 kg bombs. It is better to dive towards ground level and destroy targets like tanks or vehicles, as this will make it harder for enemies to attack you from below, where the Sparviero has very limited defensive fire coverage. The 500 kg bombs reduce your total bombload to only 1000 kg, but they are more forgiving of poor bomb aiming and can take out pillboxes with a single hit. Be wary of attacks from the sides, as only the weak 7.7 mm machine guns cover the flanks of the Sparviero.

В целом, разработанный образец вооружения соответствовал определению «ручной миномёт» (так как основным способом стрельбы из него была навесная стрельба), инновацией была возможность обстрела противника сверху-вниз с возвышения и стрельба прямой наводкой на близких дистанциях до цели. Применение алюминиевого сплава в качестве материала для ствола позволило существенно снизить массу оружия. Гранатомёт проходил испытания на Абердинском испытательном полигоне в начале 1960-х гг., тогда же он получил индекс опытного образца XM79. Форма и устройство принятой на вооружение серийной модели отличались от опытного образца формой приклада, спускового ложа и прицельных приспособлений. M79 превосходил все имевшиеся до того образцы стрелкового вооружения пехоты в условиях городской застройки, при стрельбе по огневым точкам, амбразурам бункеров, скоплениям пехоты. В таком виде гранатомёт был призван заполнить пробел между ручными гранатами и переносными миномётами. Постановка его на вооружение предполагала снятие с вооружения 60-мм ротного миномёта, который становился не нужным в таких условиях. Военнослужащим, принимавшим участие в испытаниях, гранатомёт сразу пришёлся по вкусу, за его скорострельность, лёгкость и удобство в эксплуатации.

In-game description
Three-engine SIAI Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 “Sparviero” medium bomber, second series, issued 1937.
Beginning with the 2nd production series, the SM.79’s dorsal “hump” was shortened (previously it had reached almost to the front door), and the teardrop-shaped fairings were removed. On each side of the hump, a couple of windows were added to better illuminate the radio operator’s and mechanic’s workspaces. The bomber’s gondola located under the fuselage was elongated, the engine’s exhaust pipes were twisted to direct them away from the engine nacelles, and additional extensions were added to the stabilizer fin.
The side-switching 7.7-mm Lewis machine gun from the World War I period, which had been installed inside the fuselage on a mobile track, was replaced by two fixed 7.7-mm Breda SAFAT machine guns, though before the war SM.79s usually flew without onboard guns.
In this form, without virtually any changes, the SM.79 underwent mass production and was delivered to Regia Aeronautica (Italian Royal Air Force) combat units for about seven years.
As a modification of a passenger aircraft, the SM.79 had many related flaws: inconvenient bomb sight positioning, a relatively small bomb bay in a rather large fuselage, and primitive defensive weapons installed in half-open units with no mechanization. All of this understandably drew criticism from the Regia Aeronautica.
But there was no other choice, and in February 1937, during the Spanish Civil War, the SM.79 saw its first combat.
SM.79s with Italian crews and Spanish insignia operated around Seville and Bilbao, participating in the battles of Brunete and Teruel. The SM.79’s speed allowed it to fly long-range daytime operations without escort. Of all the Republican fighters, only the I-16 could successfully intercept the SM.79, and not many I-16s were available. Therefore, the bomber’s losses were relatively small. Combat experience showed that the plane’s survivability was high. Franco only lost 4 SM.79s during the entire war. The Italians lost 12.
Beginning in January 1938, the SM.79 was used as a night bomber. The “Sparviero” played an increasingly bigger role as the civil war progressed. After the war, the surviving Italian SM.79s were transferred into Franco’s Air Force. There they survived World War II, and the last of them were used in the Spanish colonies in North Africa until the early 60’s. In 1943, one “Sparviero” was converted by the Spanish company AISA into a staff plane, used to command the Spanish army.

В настоящее время М79 состоит на вооружении 30 государств мира. Армия США также не отказалась полностью от его использования, так как его дальность и точность стрельбы значительно выше, чем у М203. Тем не менее, “старичка” активно заменяют современным оружием с большей огневой мощью и дальностью стрельбы — M32.

M-79 возвращается в Far Cry 4. Данный однозарядный гранатомёт неплох, хоть и наносит не слишком большой урон (гораздо слабее ГМ-94, РГ-А87 и уж тем более РПГ-7), имеет небольшую дальность. Зато это единственный гранатомёт, из которого можно стрелять, скользя по тросу, перетаскивая тела или во время езды на транспорте. Отлично подходит для уничтожения конвоев «Гнев Пэйгана» и перехвата грузовиков с королевским грузом с воздуха, так как позволяет не отставать от вражеских машин, а также для захвата аванпостов. Отлично помогает, если вы летите на гирокоптере, ведь с помощью него можно устроить «бомбёжку» для напавших снизу врагов. Против вертолётов, увы, из-за малой дальности почти бесполезен. Перезаряжается, к счастью, быстро, но не имеет улучшений и обвеса. Доступна лишь декоративная окраска. Впрочем, это проблема всех гранатомётов в игре (исключение — LK-1018). Также недоступен на Арене Шанат в режиме «Испытание с оружием».
Имеет ёмкость магазина на одну гранату, однако можно иметь до 50 гранат для него с полностью улучшенной тяжелой сумкой для боеприпасов.
К счастью, открывается быстро (быстрее только РПГ-7). Можно купить в магазине, где он становится доступен после задания «Культурный обмен». Его стоимость составляет 100’000 ₭. Можно открыть бесплатно, захватив 8 колоколен, а также найти во время заданий «Сопровождение» и одном из заданий «Неделя моды в Кирате», посвящённой чёрному водяному дракону (редкой вариации рыбы-демона).

О снарядах
В 1952 году создали первый образец осколочного боеприпаса. Его боевая часть представляла собой 40-миллиметровую сферу, в полых стенках которой содержалось взрывчатое вещество, а также готовые поражающие элементы — стальные шарики. Однако, как посчитали эксперты, серийное производство подобных снарядов государству могло обойтись слишком дорого. В итоге в изготовлении боевых частей решили использовать спаянную стальную проволоку с квадратным сечением. Она навивалась на специальную оправку, а чтобы быстрее разрывалась и образовывала поражающие осколки, ее оснастили поперечными насечками. В результате разрыва подобного боеприпаса поражалось все живое в радиусе пяти метров.

The damage has been significantly reduced, and is no longer capable of destroying or flipping most vehicles with a single shot; rather, a single shot will disable the vehicle, while a second shot is required to destroy it. This actually makes it very useful for stopping prisoner vans or reaping trucks, since they will stop without killing the occupants or destroying the cargo.
